A United Nations Family

Today my parents, Hamish and I went to visit our Aunty Noeline and Uncle Peter for a little catch-up, and we were discussing the multi-cultural mix in our family. As it stands:

Our family (Chinese/NZ, a bit of Scottish)
Our dad's sister's family (Dutch/NZ, a bit of Scottish)
- Our cousin's wife (Japanese)
- Our cousin's girlfriend (Niuen)
-Our cousin's girlfriend (Polish)
Our dad's brother's family (Samoan/NZ, a bit of Scottish)
- Our cousin's girlfriend (South African)

Our uncle then told us that we were not to get Chinese girlfriends but had to diversify to increase the multicultural mix! Hmmm...maybe I should go for Korean...

First Performance

This morning a few of the kids I've been teaching the recorder to at church were performing for the very first time! I've only been teaching them for a couple of months and they've managed to almost learn everything I usually cover in a year!

I got them to play the recorder along to two of the songs I was leading for children's worship - God is so Good and Amazing Grace. I have to say I was very proud of them!

Hopefully they enjoyed their first performance and have caught the performance bug!

Family Group Dinner

Tonight families from my mum's church family group got together at church to have a shared dinner. The weather wasn't so great so it was a night to stay in. Most of the people there were parents, with the younger people being guys.

There wasn't too much food but just enough, and before we started eating we had a quick prayer and introduced each other before we got to the eating part!

Us guys went into a separate room to eat and chat. One girl from America came into the room, asking if it was the young people's room. She was quite tall so I first thought she was a parent, but then realised she was only 17!

Once we finished our food, people got out the table tennis tables and the badminton equipment to play some sport. Us guys just threw around a rugby ball in a foyer before playing some badminton. By now it was raining really heavily outside!

Songs I Really Dislike Right Now

Working at a pharmacy with the radio on everyday has made me come to hate several songs over time. These are some of the songs which are driving me mad right now and just make me want to stick my head into a blender.

I'll add to this list as I remember them all (although I'd prefer not to).

Annabel Fay - Show me the Right Way

Lady Gaga - The Edge of Glory

Jessie J - Price Tag

Adele - Someone Like You

Katy Perry - E.T.
