A Whole New Side

We've been playing this game after youth group called Psychiatrist ever since Jenny introduced it to us that night we had to help clean the church. The game involves everyone who does know the rule sitting around the outside in the circle, and everyone who doesn't sitting in the middle. Those who don't know the rule have to ask any 'yes' or 'no' questions to those sitting in the circle to try determine what the rule is. If, after one person in the circle answers the question and someone else shouts

'PSYCHIATRIST'


then everyone in the circle has to get up and switch places. I won't say what the rule is or else it'll kill it for those who don't know, but it can get quite interesting as you get to know each other's secrets! We did have one game which kinda failed when the people asking questions started thinking tactically and started asking about clothes. That was a little boring for us...

However, we have uncovered a secret from one particular person and last night it felt as though I got to know a whole lot more about that person! I have to say it's a really good feeling when someone trusts you enough to open up to you. I admit to sometimes being too loose with my trust..(or is it my mouth?) and just blurting everything out and then realising I've said too much!

Don't Lie to the Kids...They Might Just Believe You

I returned to music teaching this morning after a week off, and my first student (who is little girl) came in and her mum followed soon after. Her mum asked me

"I heard you got married?"

I looked at her blankly...

"You got married to Princess Consuela?"

That's when I realised what I had done! The week before when I told the students I wouldn't be teaching the following week, the girl must've asked me why and I must've joked that I was getting married to Princess Consuela Bananahammock (you'll have to watch Friends to get that one!)

Fortunately the girl's mum knew it was a joke too, and I told her I'd let her know when or if I actually did get married!

You Never Know What's Around the Corner

I've just finished watching another Chinese drama, Corner with Love (and no, Rainie Yang isn't in it! Show Luo who was in Hi! My Sweetheart is in it though) and it's made me think about quite a few things that are quite relevant to me right now, such as if you never try, you'll never know what could have been. That's something I've been told many times! This drama has only further reinforced the message.

Now time to find my next drama to watch!...or maybe I should start studying...

A United Nations Family

Today my parents, Hamish and I went to visit our Aunty Noeline and Uncle Peter for a little catch-up, and we were discussing the multi-cultural mix in our family. As it stands:

Our family (Chinese/NZ, a bit of Scottish)
Our dad's sister's family (Dutch/NZ, a bit of Scottish)
- Our cousin's wife (Japanese)
- Our cousin's girlfriend (Niuen)
-Our cousin's girlfriend (Polish)
Our dad's brother's family (Samoan/NZ, a bit of Scottish)
- Our cousin's girlfriend (South African)

Our uncle then told us that we were not to get Chinese girlfriends but had to diversify to increase the multicultural mix! Hmmm...maybe I should go for Korean...

A Helping Hand

Today was a combined Easter baptism service at our church, so three of our 'sister' churches joined us to celebrate Easter and the people getting baptised. I was sitting right at the back with some of the guys and it was kind of hard to hear!

The service eventually finished though, and we were introduced to a new girl called Katie! Hopefully she joins our youth group!

Gabrielle, one of our youth group leaders came over to me during lunch, and gave me a little present she said was from her and her husband Tim. She told me it wasn't a baptism present but something she hoped would help.

A guide to dating for Christian guys!

Hahahaha! I think it's becoming like an Oddfellows inside joke/goal, to see Calum get a girlfriend! Well guys, I won't disappoint you ;)

I was reading the book in a corner by myself for a little while till one of the girls came over to see what I was doing, snatched my book and ran off into the toilet with it!

Guitar Crash Course

One of my best friends invited me to attend a free guitar lesson her boyfriend was teaching at uni tonight after work, so I decided to attend, mainly so I could meet her boyfriend, but by the end of the night I found that I actually learnt quite a bit about how to play the guitar!

It was actually quite good...both meeting her boyfriend and learning the guitar. I actually realised there is some logic to the fingering of chords! I really really want to learn how to strum though!

As for her boyfriend, he's a really great guy! I'm glad my prayers have been answered and that she's found someone who will take good care of her!

I think I might just attend the next guitar lesson in a couple of weeks!
