Pushing It

I've been to the gym for the past four out of five days, which has surprised even me! I never realised I'd actually commit to it and turn it into a routine!

After I had my one hour session with the trainer last Wednesday, I didn't return to the gym till Saturday because of work. Since then (excluding Sunday because of church!), I've been coming in every morning for at least an hour to work out. I've got to admit I've been feeling a little sore and tired afterwards (falling asleep in the afternoons!), but it's worth it!

It really has been making me feel more upbeat and happy, and it feels great that my body is getting a workout!

I bumped into my trainer again yesterday while I was working out, who said he had seen me working out and encouraged me to keep it up. He then introduced me to the abdominal crunch machine. Hopefully that'll give me some abs!

Today I had another session with the trainer, doing some cardio. Boy was I wasted afterwards! I really should take a 'before' photo so I can keep track of any progress and hopefully notice any difference.

The trainer wants me to keep a diary of everything I eat :O Fortunately he wants me to start next week, so I might spend the last few days enjoying unhealthy food! Or maybe not...

Beach Body Here I Come

This morning I had my complementary one hour session with Monty, my personal trainer. He took me through some warm-up cardio exercises, along with some workouts using machines that would work my front and back, my biceps and triceps, as well as my abs.

My main goals at the gym are to get some abs, improve my posture (I hunch over too much) and to get some muscles!

The last time I joined a gym was the uni gym, and I didn't commit to it at all, only going there three times in the space of a year.

This time I'm going to do it right, and as my trainer has repeated to me to motivate me...

Time to Work Out!

I finally joined a gym today! A few months ago I found out that Jetts will be opening a gym in our area, so I registered my interest on their website, and they texted me this morning letting me know that they will be opening by the end of the month! Everyone who pre-registered were invited to sign up and get a discount on membership, so right before work my mum took me there and I signed up.

I booked a time for orientation since it's a 24/7 gym and we need to know all about security etc. They also gave me a three week pre-opening workout. I shall start on that next week!

Getting Back into the Groove

I haven't attended dancing with the aunties at church since last year because of various commitments and...sleeping in...but I decided to make an appearance again today after Rebecca said she was going.

I have to admit it was quite a workout! I was sweating by the end of it, not to mention the stitch I got from drinking too much water throughout.

There were quite a few women who turned out today, and surprisingly one guy! He must've been someone's husband. He approached me afterwards, thanking me for not making him the only guy there as he was feeling a little lonely, and said he hoped I'd come again next week! haha

While having morning tea (besides being challenged to eat wasabi covered biscuit by Rebecca), a lady came over to talk to me about getting her daughter to attend our youth group. They just arrived in NZ six months ago, and her daughter's English isn't too good yet, and so she'd like her to come to our youth group to improve her English. It looks like we'll have a new friend this Friday!

Joylynn joined us for morning tea. She didn't do dancing as she had been helping out at the kindy today. I think she's getting some experience to put on her CV.

Everyone started leaving as I played with some of the kids. Soon everyone was gone, except for Rebecca, her brother David and me, just playing some 'Guess the Logo' game on my phone. My mum had went to the hospital with a few other aunties to visit one of their friends. Rebecca's parents had bought them lunch, and kindly invited me to join them! Thanks Liao family!

Eventually my parents came back and we went home. I just crashed on the couch! All that dancing must've taken its toll on me!

Oh, and this is something we created at church today for Joanna's birthday (one of the girls at church)

In case you were wondering, the hearts are not from me. Rebecca designed this! And yes I know, I know....I got the 'J' around the wrong way!

Group Run!

After music teaching today, Winston and his mum were going to have lunch at McDonald's, and asked if we would like to come along.

I don't know how many times I've had fast food this week now! I really should ban myself from fast food for a while.

I was telling Grace about how Aonghas and I went for a run the day before, and we came up with an idea to go for a run later tonight. I volunteered my brothers, despite them not being home (but they need the exercise anyway!). I then asked around to see if anyone else would be keen.

Eventually, we got a group together and all met up outside Trusts Stadium later that evening! A few of the guys had just had dinner, so they were going to take it easy.

We decided to jog along the track which runs alongside the river, goes up to the motorway, up to Central Park Drive and then back to Trusts Stadium.

Aonghas and I used this app, Endomondo to track our run and compare it to the day before. Surprisingly, tonight's run felt a lot easier! Admittedly, we all took a little break at the halfway mark, but by the end of the run I still had a little bit left in the tank to crank up the speed!

The run was a lot shorter than we had anticipated, as we finished in about 20ish minutes, so we got Wei to teach us some tai chi! That is some hard work!

It was starting to get dark, so we decided to cross the road to church for a drink. Some of our mums were there for a group meeting anyway.

We ended up sitting around talking before they had to close the church!

We might end up making this a more regular thing. Round the Bays, here we come!
