Ready for Winter..Next Year

I think I've finally completed my winter wardrobe...for next year! The end of the season is always the best time to buy clothes since the shops are trying to get rid of all their stock.

To be honest, I've never really had a winter wardrobe. I'm more of a t-shirt and shorts kinda guy, but I've come under a bit of criticism for my lack of fashion sense.

Anyway, after pulling off green skinny jeans without embarrassing myself too much, I ended up buying some mustard coloured chino's, and was going to stop with black skinny jeans, but because they were half-price, I ended up getting some grey jeans too!

Now I've got a bit of a selection. I guess I'm going to have to wear jeans a bit more often now!

My brothers and I are doing a bit of filming this weekend as well, and so I've been spending the day with my mum looking for black shirts that we can wear as sort of a 'uniform'. Initially we were thinking black polo shirts with our logo embroidered on it, but then Aonghas suggested we wear dress shirts, just so that it would be more suitable for any weddings we film in the future. It's been a bit of a mission looking for suitable shirts! They're either too expensive, too cheap...

We were originally going to get the shirts embroidered at the mall by those people who embroider stuff, but my mum thought it was too expensive and reckoned she could do it herself. We'll have to find out!

Farewell Benson and Derek!

Today was a sad day, as Benson one of the church deacons who has been with us for many years, and Derek, one of the guys at church who always brings us laughs, were both to be farewelled. Benson is going back to Hong Kong to study to become a pastor, while Derek is going to Hong Kong to work.

During the service, Benson was invited to come up on stage and sing a song with the pastor which was really nice! A few words were said and a powerpoint show with photos of Benson and his family were played.

The Siloam Fellowship, the fellowship that Benson has been helping lead then got up on stage and sang a song for him. It was really moving, and I could see quite a few of them getting a bit teary-eyed!

We had Sunday School as usual, but for lunch we had a special combined potluck lunch. There was a variety of food that everyone had brought. We all got our food before it was time for Oddfellows to perform a little song we had been practising for him!

We all got up and I had to say a few words before we got Benson, his family and Derek up front to sing a hymn to them. We were all in our nice Oddfellows t-shirts too! Well...most of us anyway! We got those who didn't have one or forgot to wear it to just stick Oddfellows written on a piece of paper on their shirts! REPRESENT

Once we finished, we all rushed to them for a group hug, and unfortunately upset poor Eliza who started crying! At least she'll have something to remember us by!

Other people came up one at a time to say a few words about Benson. There was also a video of Sherman who is currently over in Australia, who had a few words to say as well!

We will miss you Benson and Derek!

Boring Being Alone

You know, when I first found out I'd only be working two days a week and have the rest of the week off, I thought sweeeet free time!

However, when you're all alone and you've got no one to enjoy that free time with, then it's not so cool...

I've got to say, today was a pretty boring day! Both of my brothers and my dad were at work, and my mum went out. That left me all by myself. I had to get a few things sorted so I walked down to the bank, and once that was done I just wandered the mall and the shops.

We have a youth group camp coming up in three weeks' time, and I'm kinda organising it. I'm in charge of camp concert and helping organise the Friday night discussion. So far I'm struggling for ideas! They will probably come eventually. I was hoping that by wandering in some shops I'd pick up a few ideas.

I kinda feel a bit under pressure, as I really don't want to let down the youth group and want to make sure the camp runs smoothly, everyone has fun and it all goes well. Sometimes I feel like I'm doing everything myself though and get overwhelmed a little! I guess at least it gives me something to focus on right now. I don't know what I'll be doing with myself after it's all over, probably looking for another project!

One thing I did realise as I wandered around West City today was that I really need to get out more! Ever since I took up the pharmacy job in Albany, I haven't really been out in the city or at the shops much. My social life seems to revolve around church. I really need to catch up with old friends and meet some new friends too!

I guess I have a lot more free time to do that now...

Technology Hates Me

Once again, technology has bit me in the backside.

I switched my phone off to save battery life, and when I turned it on later tonight, it told me my microSD card was damaged, and that I needed to reformat it!

I tried putting it in the computer, and got this message:

Nooo!!! The last time this happened was when I was in Hong Kong! Fortunately I was able to recover almost all of my files.

This time around, I've tried some data recovery software but it can only recover about 500 out of 3000 files, and some of them are damaged!

I don't know whether reformatting my card and then trying again will make any difference. That's what I did last time.

I'm just hoping Google+ auto-uploaded most of my photos and videos so I haven't lost all of my memories from the past year or so.

This should teach you all a valuable lesson: BACK EVERYTHING UP!

Not Again, Calum

Woops. I was meant to get back into blogging ever since my internship ended and I had a lot of free time on my hands (that's what happens when you have no job, right? Or you work and don't have to study anymore?)

Well, ever since I signed up for postgrad, it's been hovering over my head on my days off work! I may end up procrastinating, leaving all my assignments till the last minute, but up till that point I don't end up doing anything as I feel guilty for not doing my assignments, which includes blogging! As you can see, it's a vicious cycle.

Anyway, I only have one more presentation to go next Saturday, and my work hours have been cut by a day, so it'll be the opposite for me. Two days of work, then five day weekend! It's probably time to look for more work...

I'll have to try update my blog a bit more frequently, and fill in the gaps from over the last two months!
