Tonight we had steam boat dinner at youth group, which is probably the second or third time I've ever had such a dinner. It's when you chuck in a whole lot of vegetables into a pot, steam it or something like that, and then eat it!
The adults did all the cooking though which is probably a good thing so that none of us will get sick. I'm probably sick enough as it is with a pretty bad cough. My preceptor reckons I should see a Dr about my cough which she describes as a smoker's cough! Unfortunately my family GP is only open during the weekday so I've got a bit of a problem there...
Anyway back to dinner, we had dumplings, mushrooms, crab meat (apparently!) and some other stuff.
After dinner we all went into the hall for worship and then played a game of Mafia. I thought I'd try do the silent method this time and try keep out-of-sight and out-of-mind, but they thought that was too suspicious and killed me! Bah! Oh well...
I don't usually post song lyrics on this blog...in fact I never have, but I discovered this song today and it's been stuck in my mind, so thought I'd share! I guess you could say I can sometimes relate to it!

Every night after work I pass this Korean karaoke place that sometimes has a food stall outside at night selling these kinds of Korean hot-dogs. This time I decided I'd try it! It wasn't too bad!
Funnily enough I had originally planned to go to the gym after work but decided to go straight home instead since I've just caught a cold!
Today some of us guys from our youth group got together for a bit of a guys' day out just to hang out and have some fun.
Hamish and I met up with them at Westgate Shopping Centre after I finished music classes and we decided to go to buffet lunch at this nearby Chinese restaurant
There was a lot of really yummy but fatty food there! They had wontons, prawn crackers, fries, deep-fried fish, sweet-and-sour pork and of course rice and vegetables!
We all had several plates before we started slowing down as we got full. We finished with a couple bowls of ice-cream before we couldn't eat anymore! Andrew and Ben were lucky to each get a free bottle of Coke as they knew the owner of the restaurant.
It was time to go bowling next door!
We took up two aisles. I started off not too badly, getting 8's and 9's, before steadily going downhill!
On the other hand, Hamish started off with a strike and surprised everyone by getting the highest score!
We only played one game and so after we finished we just had a little walk through JB Hifi before Ben and Andre were taken home and Tim took the rest of us to his house for a meeting (and dinner!) of the older members of our youth group to discuss how well the youth group was going so far this year.
We stopped by Countdown to buy some drinks and met Shameela, an old high school friend working at the checkout before heading back to Tim's house where some of the girls and Gabrielle were already there.
Angie was the last to arrive as she got late, but once she got there we got the meeting going and discussed how we thought the Oddfellows was going this year. There were some good things mentioned and some things that could be improved, and we agreed on an action plan to support each other.
As the meeting wrapped up, we headed over to the living room for dinner! For a change the guys were eating less than the girls, as we were still quite bloated from lunch! There was a lot of chicken and an interesting potato/fruit salad, along with pasta. I just ate the past and salad as I was too full!
As we ate dinner we just talked about our lives, how things were going and it was just good talking to the older people!
We finished dinner with some Indonesian soup/dessert that's green!
After a surprisingly deep conversation it was time to go home. I didn't want to leave, as it was so warm and I was too full to move!
It has been really quiet at work this week, but fortunately there's been enough to keep me busy throughout the day.
Monday was quite busy with a steady stream of customers coming in to get their prescriptions filled. I guess it still counted as an exam day, and everyone probably wanted to get their medicines before the holidays started!
I spent Wednesday carrying old stands to the skip outside. I almost filled one skip up, and was afraid I would get told off, especially since there were only two skips for all of the Information Commons! I got quite dirty though so I was glad to finish it!
I also spent a day doing the stocktake of the controlled drugs safe (the safe where we keep all those really restricted medicines!). That wasn't too bad. It was a bit of mindless work that required not very much thinking!
Our pharmacy technician is also on holiday which means I have to do all the banking and that takes about an hour!
First of the month orders are also pretty cool because we order up large on the first day of the month, which means there's a lot of medicines to tick off and put back on the shelf...time-consuming! :D
The bad thing about holidays is there is hardly anyone around! They closed the ground floor study area, so I can't go in there and lie down for an hour before work!
I've been catching the later buses these days though since traffic hasn't been too bad. I almost came late to work yesterday though, so I should really start trying to catch earlier buses again. I can't get too comfy. Before you know it, semester two will have started!
